报告人概况

Oceanographer with experience in modelling, analysis and prediction of deep and shallow water waves, and particularly the ocean extremes known as abnormal waves. Started the scientific career as a Research Assistant at the Department of Coastal Zone Dynamics of the Institute of Oceanology in Bulgaria with focus on the characterization of the wind wave climate of the Black Sea coastal zone. Obtained a PhD degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon on the topic of modelling the wave nonlinearity of large and abnormal waves, and then continued with a post-doctoral project on probabilistic description of waves in complex sea states with bimodal spectra. The work resulted in a track record of publications in refereed journals and conference proceedings within the scope of EU projects on safety and reliability of marine structures in rough seas. Additional experience in teaching postgraduate courses from the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Programme of the Technical University of Lisbon. Worked over two years for Lloyds Register Marine & Offshore on resolving software feature requests to improve the in-house software tools for fatigue and structural design assessment. Most recently, collaborating with the Technical University of Lisbon in writing proposals for research funding.
